KIT Solutions Manager of Data Governance Elected President of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology - Pittsburgh Chapter
Pittsburgh - Zipei Tu, manager of data governance at KIT Solutions, LLC, was recently elected president of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology - Pittsburgh Chapter (
CAST-P). CAST-P is a non-political, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote China's economic reform while bringing prosperity to both China and the United States.
KIT Solutions is a Pittsburgh-based provider of real-time, data-driven decision support services for health and human services organizations. At KIT, Tu is manager of data governance, responsible for the design, management and maintenance within the company-wide data infrastructure, one of most important assets for KIT Solutions. Prior to his current management position, Tu was a data warehouse developer, where he created data for business and software application use. Tu grew this to a six-person department.
As president of CAST-P, Tu will help facilitate channels for technological, commercial, and cultural exchange between China and the United States, as well as promote opportunities and environments for Chinese professionals in the Pittsburgh region to network, exchange information, and encourage greater understanding of traditional Chinese culture in the United States.
“Zipei is a superb choice as president of CAST-P,” said Xiaoyan Zhang, president and CEO of KIT Solutions. “Through his work at KIT, he has demonstrated his expertise within the information technology sector, as well as his commitment to help our company explore and expand into the Chinese market. He has helped build more connections, which is an important step as we move into 2011.”
Prior to working at KIT Solutions, Tu was a system manager at PRCO America, the North American sales arm of the Puyang Refractories Group (the largest refractory company in China). Before that, he worked as a foreign trade officer in the Guangzhou, China municipality department and was captain of the Chinese Coastal Guard Police Force in 2004. Tu is a native of Guangzhou, the third largest city in China. He holds a Master of Science in information technology from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Upon graduation from CMU, he had offers to work in other states, but chose to stay in Pittsburgh because of its growth potential.
In addition to his unique career path, Tu is a published columnist in China, having 35 articles printed in 2010 alone. He is a regular writer for the columns “Information Society” and “Cross-Culture Experience in America” at Southern Metropolis Daily and Times Weekly, two top newspapers in China.
“It’s an honor for me to step into this leadership position with CAST-P,” said Tu. “One of my most important career goals is to build more connections between this country and China, and I believe starting here in Pittsburgh with a company like KIT Solutions that is already looking into that market is a great start to reaching that goal.”
Tu is planning a trip to China in early 2011 to explore opportunities for KIT Solutions and to build more connections between Guangzhou and Pittsburgh.
